Design inspiration

The design concept was inspired by the client’s sentimental connection to her grandmother's cherished plates. These plates featured delicate white surfaces, green details, and gold rims, which became the foundation of the home's design palette. The exterior of the house also drew from the client’s rural upbringing, incorporating elements such as a wraparound porch complete with a charming porch swing, perfectly reflecting the warmth of country living.

The result

The client’s love for country charm shines through in every detail. The centerpiece of the kitchen is a striking 48-inch stove, reminiscent of those found in farmhouse kitchens. The homeowner was thrilled by the transformation, as she never imagined such a large range could fit in her cozy bungalow. By reimagining the layout, the renovation team managed to fit an 18-foot-long kitchen into the space. Vaulted ceilings were added to create an illusion of grandeur and enhance the overall wow factor.

The finer details

Wider finished basement showing the reclaimed plank mudroom nook, built in bench, recessed lights, and adjoining living area.
Bedroom corner highlighting a white shiplap wall with two brushed brass sconces above oak hardwood flooring.
Low angle of the patterned foyer tile with the sage side door and sage kitchen cabinetry softly in focus beyond.
Oak stair treads with black and white patterned tile risers rising past white spindles to a bright upper landing.
Apron sink and chrome bridge faucet at a large window with a vaulted ceiling and a bubble chandelier beyond in the nook.
Close perspective along a stainless pro range toward a dining nook lit by a brass globe chandelier in a vaulted space.
Detail of sage green inset drawers beside a stainless pro range and patterned geometric backsplash under a custom hood.
Close up of a polished chrome wall mount bathroom faucet with cross handles on white beveled subway tile.

Client testimonial

“In December 2020 we signed our contract with Julie and Chris who, in the back of our minds, we were always going to hire! Julie helped us to create a space in our existing humble bungalow that was simply exquisite. My husband wanted space and I wanted finishes! We both came to an agreement together as Julie created a design that met both our needs and wants. One of the many things we truly loved about working with Chris and Julie was the combined knowledge of design and construction. Not only are they able to recommend beautiful finishes, create beautiful spaces, they can tell you the exact measurement of something or pick up a hammer and fix anything. They truly are a dream team!”
